Sing Noel
Words: 15th Century
Music: Sing Noel | 15th Century
1. There we lay upon the ground, noel,
Watching o’er our flocks of sheep;
All amazed to hear the sound, noel,
That awaken’d us from sleep.

2. Adam’s fall, when he ate the fruit forbidden,
Deeply in our hearts was hidden,
And through him we sinned all, sing noel,
And through him we sinned all,

3. In the middle of the night, noel,
Shone the sun as clear as day,
And appear’d an angel bright, noel,
Who did point us to the way.

4. So we ran, straight to seek the lowly manger,
Leaving all our flocks in danger,
To behold the Son of Man, sing noel.
To behold the Son of Man.

5. Hasten’d we on nimble feet, noel
And we never stopp’d to rest
Till we saw the Virgin sweet, noel,
And the Holy Child on her breast.

6. Praises bring, with the gentle oxen keeping
Watch upon our Savior sleeping,
Hail Him now, our Lord and King. Sing noel!
Hail Him, Lord and King!

Refrain:
Sing Noel! I can never cease my singing
While the air with joy is ringing
On this happy holy day, sing noel.
On this happy holy day.
