PLEASE NOTE: Not all verses may be sung and words may vary in the particular hymn presentation.

God Is My Shepherd
Words: Based on Psalm 23
Music: Gott ist mein Hirte (Op. 99, No. 4) | Antonín Dvorák
Taken from Dvorák’s Biblical Songs, Op. 99, B. 185

God is my Shepherd, I want for nothing.
My rest is in the pleasant meadows,
He leadeth me where quiet waters flow!
My fainting soul doth He restore,
And guideth me in the ways of peace
To glorify His Name.

And though in death’s dark valley
My steps must wander,
My spirit shall not fear,
For Thou art by me still;
Thy rod and staff are with me,
And they shall comfort me.

Another Translation:

The Lord is my Shepherd, I want for nothing.
He lets me rest on blooming meadows,
He guideth me where silent waters flow!
Refreshes there my suffering soul,
And guideth me in the ways of love
To the glory of His Name.

And though I walk in the valley
Of death’s dark shadow,
I walk and know no fear,
For Thou art by my side;
Thou, O Lord, uphold my spirit,
And comfort me always.
