1. I’m longing for that blessed day
When God’s elect shall hear Christ say,
“Come my people enter now into thy chambers
And shut the doors about thee.”
Truth is fallen within the streets;
God’s infallible Word repeats.
Lawlessness is the cry of the land:
“Come, O Son of God.”
2. A solitary cry is heard
From those abiding in God’s Word.
Cast not away therefore your confidence,
For ye have need of patience.
The love of many is waxing cold;
Those who fought are no longer bold.
Hirelings scatter the sheep from the fold:
“Come, O Son of God.”
3. How stands your soul with God today?
Does sin still reign to have its way?
The blood of Christ can sanctify your soul,
And fill with Holy Ghost control.
God condemns your neutrality;
Compromise, God commands we flee;
Restraining sin till our Lord we see:
“Come, O Son of God.”
I’M LONGING FOR THAT BLESSED DAY
